English Every film with my favourite Kate Winslet raises great expectations in me and this biographical drama about the iconic Lee Miller was no different. This is my second - and this time very direct - encounter with the famed photographer after Civil War, and it's a bit of a shame that they went the route of a straightforward biopic in which the frame story is noticeably more engaging and deeper than the central story. Given the subject matter and the time setting of the film, I was expecting more powerful scenes that would have moved me, but I got more hints of deeper emotions, albeit well acted, like the scenes with the collaborator and the starving girl. As I wrote above, the frame story really intrigued me, especially because of the solid plot twist, but I was impressed how average Lee is within the genre. ()
