Biography

Andrew Jenks is an award-winning director, writer, on-screen talent and filmmaker. At 28 years old, Jenks has produced 2 seasons of television, 7 films, penned a Scholastic book, spoken at colleges and organizations around the world, and has been considered one of the most prolific storytellers of his generation. At age 19, Jenks moved into a nursing home for a summer and edited over 200 hours of footage in his parent's basement, ultimately creating the groundbreaking documentary film Andrew Jenks, Room 335. After playing all over the world, the film premiered in America on HBO and is was streaming on Netflix.

At 21 years old, Jenks was given a $1 million budget and moved to Japan for 9 months to make a feature movie for ESPN Films about legendary baseball manager Bobby Valentine. Jenks then traveled the US for his award winning MTV series World of Jenks, where he lived with the homeless, people with autism and cancer, and other stories of the youth of America that we oftentimes overlook.

His book, My Adventures as a Young Filmmmaker, was a behind the scenes tour de force that takes a look at Jenks' life both behind and in front of the camera. For the 2012 election, Jenks was MTVs political correspondent, asking candidates questions on behalf of his generation. Meanwhile, Jenks teamed up with Gant Rugger clothing to write and direct the critically acclaimed web series It's About a Girl, as well as working with ESPN to produce and direct Posterized, part of ESPN's Emmy Award-winning 30-for-30 short series. In connection with MAC Cosmetics, Jenks directed It's Not Over, an inspirational look at young adults battling the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It's Not Over was playing on Netflix and Hulu around the world.

Jenks' projects include: All-American Family, a short film about a family and a championship football team that happen to all be deaf; and Dream/Killer, a feature documentary about a young man who spent 10 years in prison for a murder based on somebody else's dream. In addition to making movies and TV shows, Jenks founded the All American High School Film Festival, which was the largest high school film festival in the world – taking place in New York City's Times Square.
