Biography

Kjell Sundvall was born in nothern Sweden in 1953. He attended the Swedish Film School, Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm, between 1975 and 1977. Since then he has worked in both film and TV. He won Prix Italia in 1981 for best drama for the TV-production "Jackpot". He also won the Guldbaggen (Swedish Oscar) for best director in 1996 for the film The Hunters. For television he has mainly directed drama as well as sit-coms, comedy and soaps.

Since 1981 he has directed eleven feature films, two of of which became huge hits in Sweden and attracted large audiences. The Hunters and In bed with Santa each sold almost one million tickets. Since he left Dramatiska Institutet in 1975, Sundvall has been involved in more than 50 productions for various TV-channels in Sweden. These include ten of the twenty four 90-minute episodes of the popular TV-series about the police inspector Martin Beck.
