Biography

Stéphane Querrec, , screenwriter, director and artist.. Born and raised in France, Querrec graduated from the Fine arts School of Bordeaux in 2005 and was a fellow at the Jan van Eyck Academy Maastricht in 2007.

Over a period of ten years, everything that Querrec did has been the result of making characters that people would play out in front of a camera. He is best known for his short films "Blow" and "Flow", which gained international recognition and were subject of many screenings and exhibitions: Bonner Kunstverein Germany, Bonnefanten Museum Maastricht, Video Vortex Ankara, FRAC Pays de la Loire, MuMok Museum of Modern Art Vienna, bAsis Frankfurt, Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin.

Querrec wrote the script of medium feature film "Staande! Debout!", which premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival in 2013. In 2015 he signed the script of the long feature film "Steppenläufer".

Aside from working as a screenwriter and filmmaker, Querrec wrote and staged the performance series in progress "With my tongue in your cheek" (2008-11): at Flacc Genk Casino Royale, De Voorkamer Lier, Kulturhuset Stockholm, Pages Tehran. In 2014 Querrec was invited by the city of Rijeka in Croatia to stage a public ongoing performance, "Gossip", in the context of the Copula Festival.
