Tana Gilbert

Biography

Chilean filmmaker, she has a Master’s degree in Documentary Film from the University of Chile and teaches film courses at different universities in her native country. She debuted as a director in 2013 with the short documentary Descansa, Zulema, and her next work, I’m Still Here (2017), premiered in Spain at Seminci’s documentary short film competition Time of History, before she returned to filmmaking with Ninguna estrella (2022). Her three shorts have been selected at international festivals such as Hot Docs, the Montreal Documentary Film Festival (RIDM), the Chicago Festival or the Valdivia Festival, among others. In 2019 she was selected for the IDFAcademy emerging documentary filmmakers training program. Malqueridas, her first feature film, received project development awards at Visions Du Réel and Cannes Docs, and had its world premiere at the Critics’ Week of the Venice Festival, where it won the Grand Prix.
