Biography

Arantza Santesteban is a historian, filmmaker and audiovisual researcher. She has directed documentary shorts including Passatgeres (2012), with Dina Jiménez, Daniella D’Souza and Laura Gómez, and Euritan (2017), co-directed with Irati Gorostidi, shown at San Sebastian Festival as part of the Kimuak selection and which screened at the Punto de Vista, MiradasDoc and Malaga festivals, among others. She has produced different research works on contemporary political conflicts, feminism and cinematic representation. Until May 2020 she was coordinator of the Hiriarte Centre for Contemporary Culture (Pamplona). 918 gau was selected for Ikusmira Berriak in San Sebastián in 2018. She received the City of Lisbon Award for Best Film at Doclisboa, Best International Documentary at the Torino Film Fest and the Special Audience Award for Best Film plus a Special Jury Mention at Punto de Vista.
