Kenya Márquez acquired experience working in radio and other media. In 1997 she directed the short film Cruz, which won several awards. Between the years 2002 and 2005 she was director of the film festival in Guadalajara and then, with the short film Señas particulares (2006), she returned to film. She also teaches at university level and is currently making the final preparations for shooting a documentary about the silent-era filmmaker Cándida Beltrán Rendón. Expiration Date is her feature film debut.
