Biography

He studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. His film work is the reference to learn about the difficult living conditions of the people in the Durango Sierra, of their traits, language and traditions, which he endearingly captures in his work, a distinctive aspect of his films. He has received several awards in Mexico and abroad. Some of his films include Vidas Errantes (1984), Pueblo Maldito (1987), La Última Batalla (1993), Elisa Antes del Fin del Mundo (1996), and Érase una Vez en Durango. Since 1998 he is a permanent member of the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences.
