Biography

Amor Hakkar was born in Algeria, but he emigrated to France with his parents as a baby, and has been living there ever since. Fond of cinema and writing, Hakkar made his first films, both shorts and features (Sale temps pour un voyou; 1992), in France. When his father died in 1998, Hakkar returned to Algeria to bury him and discovered the Aures area, where, in 2002, he shot a documentary. This was followed by the award-winning feature, The Yellow House, shot in Berber in 2006. A Few Days Of Respite is his second feature.
