Biography

She studied literature at the local university, then directing (film and theatre) for three years. She soon demonstrated her interest in social problems, with documentaries about blind prisoners (The Cell with a View, 1996) and young anorexia sufferers (Dreams and Death, 1998). In 2002 she made the documentary short Lessons of Hope, on the re-opening of the Kabul Art School. This also led to the subject of her new film: Latawce. Alongside her filmmaking, she is also a playwright and a theatre director.
