Matías Bize was born in Santiago, Chili. In 2003 he directed his feature debut, SÁBADO, UNA PELÍCULA EN TIEMPO REAL, which participated in numerous international festivals, including Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film festival, where it received FIPRESCI Prize, Special Mention and Special Prize in Memoriam R.W. Fassbinder. He then directed several short films, and then a feature EN LA CAMA/ IN BED (2005), which also participated at different festivals and gained Grand Coral of Havana Film Festival and Golden Spike of Valladolid International Film Festival. His feature film, LO BUENO DE LLORAR (2006) also was a success and received Critics Award and Special Mention at Valdivia International Film Festival.
