Following the 1980s genocide in Guatemala, Catalina survives as a displaced person. The birds bear witness to her flight. Junkolal is a documentary film that plunges us into a universe no army could ever destroy: the will to live of a border town south of Mexico and north of Guatemala that, through its ancient Chuj Maya knowledge, has overcome tragedy by holding on to hope and cultural communion.
