Loneliness in one’s own family – that is what the Israeli director Nitzan Gilady is grappling with. Together with his parents, who originate from Yemen, and his two grown-up brothers he sets off on a trip – with his camera in tow. They are aiming for the Grand Canyon and, above all, for them all to get closer together. Travelling in a camper van the family is forced to confront topics such as independence, the traumas of war, homosexuality and emigration. Discussions turn into conflicts. The film is an intimate travel diary which tells the story of the director’s own family and asks how closeness can develop between parents and siblings given the differences in their lives.
