Josef K., the writer and poet, belongs to a circle of the opposition. During their meetings perpetuated by a camera, he and his friends recall the great treacheries of the Communist movement. K. finds one of his lovers, Márta, lying dead in the kitchen. His other lover, Kata, who is a discharged police officer, owns to having committed the murder as well as that her purpose with it was to get K. to prison. At this point Kata is shot dead by someone from behind. K. and his new girl-friend, Juli, move into the home of K's friend, an astrophysicist living abroad. A commando attacks the house and K. is killed. Juli is on the run. K's friends deny having known the poet. Mysterious persons with umbrellas try to wipe out the memories of the events from Juli's conscious, then she re-enters the scene of the murder with the help of a police investigator. Yet the house of the astrophysicist is nowhere to be found. The investigator answers Juli that according to the computer, the person named Kaffka József, 1 410927 0333, has never existed.
