Maya Nilo (Laura)

Nilo is a feminist writer, whose calm life with her husband and daughter Laura in Stockholm is suddenly disrupted by the arrival of her wayward sister, Maya, who decides to run off with Nilo’s 13-year-old daughter and her Volvo car. Nilo reluctantly tags along on a journey to Portugal where the sisters’ complicated mother, Irma, recently diagnosed with cancer, lives with Maya’s son, who she might finally take responsibility for.
