Inferno: Letters from Auschwitz

(TV movie)
Japan, 2020, 52 min

Plots(1)

Mysterious memos were discovered buried on the grounds at Auschwitz, the death camp where millions of Jews perished during World War II. The memos were hitherto illegible, heavily blurred by the elements. Now, digital technology is shedding light on their contents. The memos were left by the sonderkommandos, prisoners given the task of taking fellow prisoners to the gas chambers and disposing their bodies afterwards. These first-hand accounts reveal not only harrowing experiences, but just how death by gas chamber was systemized. (NHK / Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai)
