Lana Turner stars as Sara Scott, an American reporter working in England during World War II. Living in London in the dark days of the war, Sara starts a passionate love affair with another journalist, BBC reporter Mark Trevor. Mark refuses to marry Sara, however, since he already has a wife and a child residing in a small village in Cornwall. Mark leaves for the continent on a dangerous assignment -- when he perishes in a plane crash. Upon learning of her lover's death, Sara has a nervous breakdown. After her recovery Sara makes a decision: to visit Cornwall and to see Mark's home. (official distributor synopsis)
