A piece that has a lot of emotional and very strong moments in it. Right at the beginning, there's a great scene where blood spurts out in an amazing fountain from the slain. The Japanese certainly weren't afraid of blood, and over the course of a few years, you can see a beautiful development in that regard. Zatoichi is basically a tragic figure here and there's hardly a smile to be had.
