Socialite Jean (Shirley Grey) throws an elaborate costume party in the mansion of her wealthy but miserly grandfather, Steven Kester. Cut off from her allowance and her grandfather's will, Jean prepares to elope with her secret fiancée before the party concludes. But before the guests can be unmasked, Kester is found murdered. Police Captain Crofton (John Wray) reluctantly joins forces with know-it-all crime novelist, Michael Tracy (Charles Starrett), to unravel the web of mystery which shrouds the killing. Everyone seems to have a motive and as the investigation progresses, suspects continue to turn up dead. (official distributor synopsis)
