El Viaje de Harryet: And the British came to Gran Canaria

The Harryet’s Journey is a short summary of a meeting between two cultures that remain connected in this day and age--the British and Canary cultures. The coexistence and influence of the British culture, especially since the 19th century, comprise part of the insular idiosyncrasy. Harryet Bellwood, of London, arrived in Gran Canaria to work at the Gran Canaria Digital Space cultural centre as a participant of the European Leonardo Da Vinci programme. The Harryet’s Journey, written and narrated by her, touches on British relationships and influences in Gran Canaria, and it is a pale reflection of the events and emotions that Harryet experienced during her stay on this island.
