Lek Chailert is a Thai woman who rescues elephants from abuse by the tourist industry and the local elephant mafia. Moreover, with the arrival of the covid-19 pandemic, she will find a way to convert her opponents. The documentary depicts a David vs Goliath struggle in which one courageous woman stands up to political corruption and an organized structure of traffickers in animal suffering. Lek is an international celebrity among animal conservationists. In Thailand, she has built a sanctuary for elephants where they receive love and care instead of cruel training. The pandemic arrives just when it seems that she's running out of the strength to fight. Increasing restrictions are having a detrimental effect on Thailand's tourism industry, the primary financial source for the elephant business. Lek hatches a plan to take in abused animals that have suddenly ceased to be a source of income and have become a financial burden for their owners. (One World)
