The comedy king gives American pop culture and politics the royal treatment in the satiric, penultimate Chaplin film A King in New York. Advertising, movies, TV, rock music, celebrity and more are in Chaplin's comic sights as he portrays a deposed European monarch who becomes a U.S. media sensation. (Artificial Eye)

Charlie Chaplin wasn’t lost even in the era of sound films, which he perfectly proved with this movie. I think it's a bit underrated, maybe because it's a bit too political, but it's still great entertainment that manages to lean into society and its politics at the time. It’s funny and clever, and I liked that. ()
