The Battle to Beat Malaria

(TV movie)

Plots(1)

Every year, over 200 million people are infected with malaria, and nearly 600,000 succumb to the disease, with children representing 80% of those. Prevention helps, but it is no cure-all—mosquito nets get riddled with holes quickly, and long sleeves do not cover every inch of your body. Dr Okumu believes that a reliable vaccine is the best form of prevention. What we consider a matter of course in the western world presents a Holy Grail for Africa and beyond. Will the team from Oxford University finally succeed in developing an effective vaccine after 30 years? (Academia Film Olomouc)
