The similarities in techniques used by the cultures of antiquity to build boats, buildings and other objects inspired adventurer Thor Heyerdahl's theory about how ancient people travelled across the Atlantic Ocean. This documentary record of the treacherous journey on a papyrus boat sailing under the flag of the Egyptian sun god Ra has been edited to present the crew's dramatic battle on rough shark-filled seas.
