Shecky Moskowitz is a struggling comedian who gets a job as a waiter on the cruise ship that is holding the Miss Universe competition. Shecky is spending the voyage in the shadow of the ship's comedian Dickie Diamond, who is getting all the girls and won't even let Shecky perform as his warm-up act. Terrible, but what can you do. I think the negative reviews for this film are only because it's Sandler's first attempt. However, it must be said that this really did not turn out well. The stand-up jokes are quite terrible and it's not really funny or amusing, just like the overall story, which unpleasantly breaks apart into individual silly gags. One would never guess what this goofball will grow into.
