Claire is 17, alone and pregnant. She hides her feelings behind her surliness, her belly beneath a billowy jacket. No one is to find out about the pregnancy; she wants to give birth anonymously and give the child up for adoption. Her biggest passion is embroidery. The work she undertakes for the haute couture embroiderer Madame Melikian, who recently lost her son in a motorcycle accident, allows Claire to open up her hidden feelings. Among the opulence of the appliqués, the delicacy of the fabric and the luxuriance they create, the initial distance and cool attitude between the the two women gives way to a deep mutual understanding that requires no lengthy communication. Embroidery enables the women to find common ground and to make their way back into life, discovering its beauty, intimacy and new beginnings. (official distributor synopsis)
