One of ten chapters in the film anthology Slovakia 2.0, this documentary is Suchý's response to the question, "What is Slovakia?" Of course, the answer is a strongly personal one. Referencing his earlier films, Transmitting Baba and Home Movie, Returns picks up where these films left off. The distance of several years lends an almost time-lapse dimension to the family line of Suchy's output. "While our neighbors travel to Cape Cod for the summer, we plod back to Bratislava in Slovakia or or Kryvorivnya in Ukraine," says Mišo Suchý. (IFF Bratislava)
