John Frankenheimer shows us above all directorial mastery, which is presented by the editing, two shots or even multiple shots in one window and great sound work. It's not entirely his fault, but he had the clear vision to show speed and its beauty, but also its malignancy. And he did. The racing scenes are still breathtaking half a century later. ()
