Plots(1)

Balázs and Pólika are celebrating the first anniversary of their marriage. Viktor, Balázs's friend, makes a surprise appearance in the midst of celebrations, which have now been continuing for two days. Balázs is ignorant of the adolescent love affair between Viktor and Pólika, which came to an end courtesy of three aunts. Polika is unaware of the fact that her former love is a good friend of Balázs. The coincidence shocks the couple and an argument follows. Pólika decides to move back to her aunt's while Balázs takes to drinking, having and endless pastime in the inn nearby. He finally makes a successful attempt at courting his wilful sweetheart, whom he then takes back to the manor-house, where, despite of Balázs's debauchery and the scare-news, the harvest seems to have gone smoothly with the manor-house itself looking good and not even the calf having been slaughtered. Pólika, a born wet-blanket, seeing that things are in order, and contrary to her behaviour in the past on such occasions, accepts her husband's invitation to take part in the celebrations.
