Plots(1)
Charlotte (Trine Dyrholm) has just left her boyfriend of several years, Kristian (Frank Thiel) and she has moved into the first best apartment she could find. Here she lives among moving boxes and bare walls. There is a heavy traffic of men coming in and out of her apartment, but none of them are allowed access to her life. One day she needs help to move a bed, so she rings the doorbell of her downstairs neighbor, transsexual Veronica (David Dencik).
Veronica lives alone with her dog in a messy, swamped apartment, full of thirst for romance. He faithfully watches an American soap and spends his time putting on make up and shaving his manhood off his legs and face. Men also run in and out of Veronica's apartment, because that's where he services other men sexually for money. From time to time his unnerving mother (Elsebeth Steentoft) pays him a visit, but apart from that he keeps to himself while he patiently waits for an answer to his application for a sex change operation.
From now on suicide attempts, dog sitting, an American soap and a new curtain become the ingredients of an apparently hopeless romance. Veronica introduces Charlotte to the wonderful world of the soap with its love and intrigues, while there is no lack of drama in their own lives. Much to the surprise and disgust of both of them, they are attracted to each other. Sideways and hesitantly, they pursue their emotions. Perhaps fall in love even. But they can't, they're afraid and they don't know how to do it. They grope in the dark and hurt each other. Could there be a love so great that it can defy the logic of the sexes and embrace the human being? And what happens when Veronica gets an answer to her application? (official distributor synopsis)
