In the popular youth soap Zoop, a group of young animal keepers have relational and dramatic adventures in a zoo (shot in Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen). In their second feature (following the successful Zoop in Afrika), they go to India to search for lost elephants. In this film, edited at a high speed and comprising lots of jokes, cliff hangers and plot developments, the enthusiastic adolescents reveal themselves as thief catchers, Bollywood actors and camel riders. Shots of the chaotic metropolis of Mumbai contrast with gorgeous nature scenes, when the group enters the jungle. Inspired by Indian music, the soundtrack accompanies Bollywood dance acts, a rickshaw chase and a fight with bad guys wearing turbans and nasty sunglasses. A bus chase and a rope bridge crossing a waterfall are the action highlights, but the youngsters primarily struggle with adolescent problems like infatuation and jealousy. The film attracted over a hundred thousand visitors and was therefore awarded as a Golden Film. (Nederlands Film Festival)
