Miguelito is fresh out of hospital and has decided to become a poet. He hooks up with his mates for a relaxed summer in the sun, full of swimming, drinking and hopefully girls. But pal Babirus’ emotional problems weigh heavy on the group, whilst success in the seduction biz is fleeting. The colour-drenched, angled and inventive cinematography evokes the poetic intensity of life as Miguelito feels it. (Independent Cinema Office)

English I was quite curious about Antonio Banderas as a director, but after watching his film I have to say I was very disappointed. I found it outrageously long-winded and full of unfulfilled attempts at poeticization and intense expression of feelings. None of the characters appealed to me in any significant way, nor was I able to empathise with any of them. A film that pretends to be something it is not - it is too shallow and does not go into depth at all, which is what I would expect from a film like this. ()
