English For the modern Czech viewer, this Yugoslavian horror film from the 1970s is almost impossible to rate. It has an interesting atmosphere in three scenes at most, where you can see the monster, and for the rest we follow the atmosphere-less events in a village and listen to the chatter of the old inhabitants. That said, I have a weak spot for the Balkans in any form, the monster looks good and there are some very funny moments (likely unintentional, but still). I’m leaving my rating at a neutral tree stars and I hope that ancient Slavic mythology will be used in horror the way it deserves... How about Sava’s grave? :-D ()

English Even if it doesn't seem so at first glance, The She-Butterfly is an interesting horror film that builds on symbolism on the one hand, but also on a certain literalness on the other, which is surprising especially in terms of the gore. Yes, this film is unpleasantly gory in places, and the bite really hurts here. Yugoslavian horror doesn't have a rich tradition, but this is an interesting example of how things were there. ()
