Mystery of the Wolf

The 12-year-old schoolgirl Salla loves the nature and enjoys wandering in the forest. She lives with her adopted parents, her father is the village policeman.The family lives in a small village in the midst of the wild nature of the Finnish Lapland. Suddenly Salla's biological mother Laila returns and draws the attention of the villagers.

The adventure starts when Salla rescues two wolf-cubs from the poachers. For generations, the most important source of income in the village has been reindeer husbandry, therefore wolves have been a constant threat to the livelihood and are hated by the villagers. The hiding and rescuing of the cubs from the poacher Venesmaa become the dramatic arch combining the action with the outcome. The Girl and the Wolf is also a story about Salla's acceptance of her biological mother after years of separation. Besides blood tie, they are united by their mysterious connection with the nature and animals. In spite of her youth, Salla has to brave difficulties, make solutions which challenge the community and simultaneously force her to redefine her own relationship with her two mothers.
