Clint Eastwood directs and stars as Josey Wales, a peaceful farmer at the time of the American Civil War who becomes a Confederate outlaw in order to avenge his family's death at the hands of Union guerillas. His obsession with revenge slowly lifts, however, as he picks up various outcasts in the wilderness. Wales tries to protect his new 'family' by leading them to a safe haven where they can rebuild their lives. (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment)

Clint Eastwood shows how much western was close to him, how much he got tuned to it and was able to create a character that is mostly in line with the classic idea of spaghetti western, but at the same time, he is overall shifting somewhere else and becoming something different, something new. The finale is not in line with the classic tone of the western and it seems like even the genre is changing along with the character of Wales. ()
