Aaron, a married butcher working in Jerusalem's Orthodox community, is respected by friends and family – a pillar in the community. However, when he hires handsome runaway student Ezri to assist with his business, sexual tensions bristle, and the pair cautiously embark on a love affair that must be kept hidden at all costs. As forbidden truths come to the fore, these lovers are forced to either confront or relent in the face of a centuries old religious community, with startling results. (Peccadillo Pictures)

English A queer film that's not kosher in the metrosexual-advertising style of the contemporary West. In fact, it is full of sweat, raw meat and tightness. Without grand gestures, big words and excessive emotions. Zohar Strauss' eye performance is almost brilliant. Haim Tabakman made a film that is an interesting probe into the Orthodox Jewish community and an even more interesting "subsurface" drama. Only a person who can't see below the surface of Mikve can call it a "film about nothing". ()

English Aaron lives his stereotypical life as an Orthodox Jew and feels dead inside, but all that changes with the arrival of Ezri. Aaron's life takes a breath and he finds himself in a dream. But there always comes a day when everyone must wake up. An engaging film with a likeable lead cast that draws on a fairly unorthodox premise. How one can face something that doesn't really exist (or shouldn't exist). In short, a nice surprise from Israel in the form of a romantic drama in which love, religion, faith and beliefs collide. ()
