Magically powerful. Supernaturally evil. The ancient entity known in human legend as the Djinn can grant a person’s wildest dreams. And in the process, it unleashes your darkest nightmares. The moral of this explosively terrifying, special-effects powered, horror-fantasy spectacular: Be careful what you wish for. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)

A classic horror plot from the 90s (the awakening of an ancient evil) in an 80s B-movie package. I can’t say I didn’t have fun, the heroine is likeable, the Djinn is a pretty charismatic villain and the way it fulfils the wishes is very entertaining. ()
I have to admit that Wishmaster isn't downright bad, but I would have expected more from the subject matter here. Mainly that the script would be a little more thought out and it won't be pushed unnecessarily into comedy rather than horror. At least that's how some of the scenes seemed to me. Given the period when the film was shot, the processing can both intrigue and discourage you. ()
