Age of Heroes is an all-guns-blazing, World War II action film based on the incredible true story of the British special ops division 30 Commando, starring Sean Bean and Danny Dyer. Following the first mission of this elite unit, formed by 'James Bond' author Ian Fleming and a precursor to the modern day SAS, Age of Heroes' 30 Commando take on the might of the Fuhrer's armed forces in a thrilling life-or-death operation. The film follows the exploits of Corporal Rains (Dyer) as he is inducted into Fleming's newly formed 30 Commando, where he and the rest of the platoon are put through intensive training under the watchful eye of Sean Bean's Major Jones. Their skills and endurance are pushed to the limit as they prepare for their first highly classified and dangerous mission: to parachute into occupied Norway and capture vital radar technology that is key to winning the war. But the plan goes spectacularly wrong, and the commandos find themselves in a pitched battle to reach the border as vicious Nazi Commander Teichman (Erik Madsen) and the Germans' deadly 5th Alpine Division tighten the noose. English This film brings up similar feelings as when I install one of the best PC games ever – “Commandos”. More specifically its second instalment with a mission where I as a green beret far in Norway have to clean up a few docks or defend a bridge to help with further developments of the Second World War, then secretly climb into a submarine and sail away with it. It’s a pity the camera was so stupid that it made the action scenes into one big jumping yoyo. Everything else was surprisingly great, which I did not expect at the beginning. ()
