Based on the best-selling book by Irène Némirovsky and set during the Second World War German occupation of France, SUITE FRANCAISE tells the story of Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams) as she awaits news from her husband – a prisoner of war. As Parisian refugees pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers' homes, Lucile's life is turned upside down – further complicated by the arrival of refined German officer, Bruno (Matthias Schoenaerts). English Personally, I think this story was simply even more intriguing than how it was portrayed. Ultimately, the strongest point is still conveyed in the closing credits, which I don't consider to be a great feat in terms of filmmaking. Primarily, the actresses deliver good performances, but still, I wasn't able to empathize with them. ()
