Greedy Lying Bastards

We can hardly say that society has reached a general consensus on global warming. Not even the scientific community concurs, and they have formed two antipoles: the first ring the alarm bells and the others strive to ease public concerns. The documentary Greedy Lying Bastards further investigates the causes of such divergent opinions within the scientific community. Soon it reveals the predictable but at the same time frustrating truth – global warming “sceptics” are mere scientific puppets of the oil industry, willing to lie on camera for money. Short-term financial interests, which only small groups of the fabulously rich can profit from, are forced on us at the expense of the long-term interests of the whole planet and its inhabitants. The interconnection of the corporate sector and the political elite is aptly demonstrated by numerous dynamic diagrams throughout the footage. The documentary provides an insight into the global warming issue, particularly the manipulative campaign of the oil giants. It does so via interviews with scientists, politicians and with the casualties of natural disasters. The goal is to awaken the audience and arouse their interest in global issues.
