The two-part documentary Automatic Brain aims to convince the audience that our brain does most things subconsciously and automatically. The brain analyses a huge amount of data each second, most of which we are not even aware, but this is, for example, the process that enables us to eat and walk simultaneously. The first part of the documentary, The Magic of the Unconscious demonstrates how subconscious processes in the human brain help illusionists divert our attention and, on the other hand, how illusionists can assist scientists studying the brain. The second part called The Power of the Unconscious examines the development of human experience into intuition, as used by fighter pilots, among others. Moreover, it describes the marketing strategies that utilize human subconsciousness in order to sell goods. It also shows the principles of identifying an unknown face. Both parts of the documentary are connected by the love story of Martha and Jake, whose subconsciousness has influenced them every moment of their life together, since they first met, fell in love, and started to build a long-term relationship. Due to its interactive form the documentary Automatic Brain directly addresses the audience, who can test step by step to what extent their behaviour is directed by their conscious or subconscious mind.
