While the people of Czechoslovakia were being warned about the American potato beetle, the USA also had problems. Their major concern however, was not a bug. It was a nuclear attack. The short film Survival under Atomic Attack, along with a short brochure, was intended to serve as a guide to Americans in case of an atomic blast. It contained information about how to proceed in such a situation and how to protect one’s own house. For today’s viewer the most shocking moment comes when the narrator states in all seriousness that the biggest problem in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not being sufficiently prepared.
