Our Days, Absolutely, Have to Be Enlightened

A highly unusual concert took place in Orléans, France, on May 28, 2011. Speakers were arranged outside the local prison so that the inmates’ heartfelt renditions could be broadcast live. Luckily, the concert was attended by a highly prominent short documentarist, award-winning French director Jean-Gabriel Périot. His powerful film looks at how chance auditors experience the prisoners’ touching ballads. On one side of the walls we can hear imploring voices, on the other we see the eloquent emotions on the faces of the passersby. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)
