English Nicholas Sparks is the author of books that are being adapted by the American filmmakers one after the other. It is obviously bringing in money. But I have a huge problem with them. Safe Haven is actually so boring for most of the runtime that I thought I could finish knitting stockings for Pipi Longstocking. But Lasse Hallström isn’t completely worthless and I kept telling myself that some stronger moment just had to come. And as I was waiting, the finale was approaching. And the finale, believe it or not, did it. The incredibly boring movie ended with a rather exciting set of gears that fit together like the chassis of a watch and I was happy that the two hours weren’t a complete waste. A big plus in all of this is, of course, also Josh Duhamel, who is likable as always, and Cobie Smulders, who has made me happy in every movie she appeared in since How I Met Your Mother. ()

English Whoa. Lasse Hallström is kind of my nemesis and with this I’m now truly done with him. This yuppie shit can only be of use to those for whom the exciting highlight of the month is a discount event at Kaufland and they'll shed tears of emotion as they embrace a supermodel and her little runs in the shadow of an evil cop who is the only character in the film who at least has some dimension. Well, one. Genuine evil, and along with The Host the biggest bucket of shit so far this year. ()

English The Disney version of Sleeping with the Enemy, starring the handsome marine from Transformers, a likable but generic blonde and a villain who looks like Cole Hauser and fails to gain any respect as a drunk psycho. Safe Haven fails as a thriller and can be watched as a romantic film, the likes of which people watch on daytime TV to kill some time on a slow Sunday. ()
