Maison Close - Season 1

First series of the French drama following the women working in a Parisian brothel known as Paradise in 1871. Owner Hortense (Valerie Karsenti) looks after her girls while fending off a gangster who wants her money; Vera (Anne Charrier), who is in her mid-thirties, knows at her age she will be unable to continue as a prostitute much longer and hopes that a wealthy client will be able to take care of her debt; and Rose (Jemima West) is still very young when she comes to Paris to find her mother and ends up working at Paradise.
