Huan Huan lives with her parents in the country but wishes for a better life in the city. She hopes to gain advantage from an affair with a married local doctor who promises to fulfil her dreams. As soon as the doctor's wife, one of the town's influential politicians, finds out about the affair, she starts causing trouble for the girl's family. In order to defuse the situation, Huan Huan decides to marry a local gambler. Song Chuan's directing debut explores contemporary Chinese society, the moral decline of the young generation and the problems of one-child policy, with surprising honesty. (Febiofest)
