Maria do Mar

Plots(1)

This ethnographic film, bordering on documentary and live-action feature, captures the life in a Portuguese fishing town Nazaré, a popular tourist destination. It tells the story of sea-captain Falacha and his daughter Marie who falls in love with a son of a man whose death Falacha had indirectly caused years ago. This film is sometimes compared with the productions of the pioneer of American documentary Robert Flaherty. (Summer Film School)
