"Here in Oberduch we have a song Soar Now, You Red Eagle. That eagle has flown away, but there is a new grey one circling above the town. In its beak it carries a Vattenfall logo, in its claws a carbon dioxide sign. But where can we escape?" At the coffee table of a lady who has lived in the village all her life, a multinational energy conglomerate is the devil, but the truth remains more complicated. In Northeast Germany the company tries to prevent the energy crisis by burying the waste of its coal mines in the ground. While corporate managers and experts try to explain the benefits of this maneuver, activists bark and brawl. When a nuclear facility goes off in Japan, the dispute takes a whole new spin. In the end, Johanna Ickert's film raises more questions than answers.
