60's, 70's, 80's... Our childhood, our youth and youth of our parents... The same songs, the same movies, the same idols. A child day-care centre, a school, a camp, an institute and military service... Just like everyone else... Our life. Who doesn't remember whirring noise of a small camera, family viewing of 8 mm films ... The years have passed, life changed and the old shots of family documentary films that survived by some miracle help us to go back to our past that is not always a happy one. In the course of 6 years the authors have watched more than 5000 hours of unique chronicles that became the basis for this film.

"Private chronicles. Monologue" is not just a time portrait. The film's character is a "typical representative", and an "average type", a person born on 11th of April 1961, a day before Yuri Gagarin flew into the outer space, with whom we live through our first steps, first school years, first love, first sex, first betrayals and first enlightenments up to the year 1986 when something started to happen in the USSR - some people call it the beginning, while others call it the end.
