An ex Special Forces agent has re-located his family to Pompeii to pursue his dream job as a geologist. Whilst his wife and daughter are on a tour of Mount Vesuvius, disaster strikes as the infamous volcano erupts once more. After being denied permission to undertake a rescue mission to save his family Jeff decides to brave the ash and molten lava on his own to rescue them. It s a race against time as Jeff needs to get to them before they are consumed in the fire and Pompeii is destroyed once more. (High Fliers Films)

When something new and catastrophic comes to the cinema, there is a high probability that a cheaper version of such a film will appear. It is usually a B-movie, with a bad screenplay and mostly boring. Given that Paul W. S. Anderson released "Pompeii" in cinemas, the low-budget version did not take long to appear. However, one difference is that "Apocalypse Pompeii" is set in the present, not during the actual eruption of Vesuvius. You get exactly what you expect. The quality is terrible, but it is still entertaining in some places.
